With its mix of cool winter days and hot summer sun, olive trees thrive in the Texas climate.
It's an unknown fact to many Texans, but a message the Jackson County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office hopes to spread.
Jeff Transeau, with Charta Olive Farms, will speak Tuesday at the Jackson County Master Gardener Association's Come Grow With Us educational series, according to an extension news release.
Olive production is already under way in large quantities throughout several regions of Texas, according to the news release, and have become successful. The goal is to spread that success into South-Central Texas and provide others with the necessary tools for success.
Transeau is the principal investor and manager of Charta Olive Farms in Columbus. A Stephen F. Austin State University graduate, he founded Charta in 2000.
