Decora Study Club meets

The Decora Study Club met at The Woman's Club House Jan. 8. President Jo Cornstubble called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. and welcomed everyone. Davanna West led the collect; the pledge to the American flag was led by Doreta Keith; the pledge to the Texas flag was led by Ann Henrich.

Program Chairman Carol Rhode introduced Sharon Petty, owner and instructor of Dance Time of Victoria. She gave a short history of the international origins of dance and the influence of dance in the U.S. Mike Ancarrow and his wife, owners of Hungry's Thirsty's, and have been students of Petty for several years. Mike was her partner as they elegantly danced a rumba, the waltz, the swing and the two-step. She then led all the Decora members present in a cowboy cha-cha as the finale.

Federation Counselor Francisca Watts introduced Anne Dohmen, who gave a report on her home country, Holland, and the other countries where she has lived as an expat.

The annual roll call was read by Martha Jones. Cornstubble recognized member's birthdays and thanked the following: Jane Cox and Victoria Grimes, hostesses; Jana Hipes, Barbara Skipper and Carol Moore, social committee; and Mary Virginia Jacobs and Mary Jane Schurtz, membership committee.
