Stop being a cry baby. People nowadays are cry babies. People need to learn how to handle stress. Everyone whines about stress and depression. Stress and depression have been around since Adam and Eve ate the fruit. We need to teach our kids to deal with it, not baby them. I thank God my dad was a strong-willed man; all problems had a solution, but you had to learn how to find the solution and not depend on anyone, because then you wouldn't be disappointed.
I have had my share of tragedies in my life, and I could have gone into drugs and alcohol or become suicidal. However, with my dad's words echoing in my ears, I pushed forward. I am my kids' protector; they need me to push them, cheer them on, guide them and protect them till my last breath. I can't crumble and bury myself because my dad raised a survivor.
When I saw the Olympics this past year, I finally realized that these people are truly amazing. They also had their share of misfortunes and disabilities, yet they pushed on without feeling sorry for themselves. They know how to improvise, adjust and overcome, and like my daddy always said, "Where there's a will, there's a way."
