Department of Public Safety troopers were still investigating the cause of a motorcycle wreck that sent two people to the hospital Saturday but think a mechanical failure may be to blame.
Jack Johnson, 49, of Port Lavaca, was traveling Saturday with passenger Carrie DeLaGarza, 47, of Victoria, on U.S. Highway 59 South just north of Goliad County.
About 4:40 p.m., the pair, who were not wearing helmets, went into a skid and rolled off the motorcycle, Trooper Jesse Ray Chavana said Sunday.
"We're thinking, if anything, the tire was low," Chavana said.
Johnson was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro, where he was listed in stable condition Sunday night.
DeLaGarza was flown by helicopter to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Hospital officials would not release her condition Sunday night.
Chavana said the two suffered head trauma. He said no citations have been issued.
