Three people were arrested Saturday after shots rang out near a children's play area in Riverside Park.

One adult who is a known gang member and one juvenile were arrested during a traffic stop about 7 p.m. near the park for carrying a weapon illegally, Victoria Police Sgt. Kelly Luther said Sunday.

Another person was arrested for public intoxication.

The names of all three people who were arrested were not released. The adults were taken to Victoria County Jail, and the juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention center, Luther said.

She said police recovered a 9-millimeter handgun, which matched the shell casings found at the scene, from an older-model, white Buick that the suspects were driving. No motive has been determined for the shooting.
