Three congregations share Advent offerings with hunger organizations

St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Schroeder, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ander and Zion Lutheran Church in Arneckeville shared joint Advent worship services Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. The offering received at the three services has been donated to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent and ELCA World Hunger, a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The money received at the three services totaled $1,061, which was matched with a $400 grant from the Greater Victoria Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, bringing the total gift to $1,461.
The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent received $731, and ELCA World Hunger received $730. The Thrivent matching grant was made through Thrivent's Care Abounds in Communities Chapter Care Program.
The gift to the food bank was divided equally between Cuero Area Ministerial Alliance House in Cuero, Goliad County Outreach Food Pantry and the food pantry of Fannin United Methodist Church.
