Our Lady of Victory School, 1311 E. Mesquite Lane, is taking part in the national Catholic Schools Week, Sunday to Feb. 1, with various daily activities.
Also celebrating the week in Victoria are St. Joseph High School and Nazareth Academy. The week will include masses, open houses, and activities for students, families and the community.
At Our Lady of Victory, the week begins with Mass at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral at 9 a.m. Sunday attended by area Catholic schools.
A prayer service will begin at 8:15 a.m. Monday in the OLV gym, followed by the filling of the OLV Time Capsule. Parents are invited to visit classrooms from 8:30 a.m. to noon and then join their children for lunch throughout the week. Monday is pajama day for the students. Students may also bring baby items to donate for the Gabriel Project.
An open house for prospective parents and students will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the OLV Cafeteria.
A Knowledge Bowl will take place Tuesday afternoon. This is also sports day for the students and canned goods are being collected for St. Vincent DePaul.
Grandparents' Day is Wednesday, when the grandparents, as well as parents, are invited to visit the classrooms. A sock hop and old-fashioned games will be from 1 to 3 p.m. This is also silly hat and sock day, so students should wear a pair of silly socks and bring an extra pair to donate.
The last day of the book fair is Thursday.
A talent show will be at 2 p.m. This is also Western day for the students. Students will deliver baskets and sing for the sisters at Incarnate Word Convent.
At the conclusion of Catholic Schools Week, an all-school Mass will be Friday. Students may wear their spirit shirts and jeans. School will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.
