Hallettsville livestock show begins

The annual Hallettsville Junior Livestock Show begins Saturday at the Wilbur Baber Memorial Complex, 499 County Road 200.
The show includes 19 steers, 144 hogs, 16 lambs and 25 pens of broilers, said said Terry Wick, Hallettsville High School ag teacher and FFA sponsor.
"The number of animals are down just a little, one or two here and there," he said.
In addition to the market animals, 33 commercial heifers and 19 gilts are entered..
Weigh-in begins at 8 a.m. Saturday with broiler judging at 5 p.m. followed by lamb judging.
The breeding show starts at 7 p.m.
On Sunday at 12:30 p.m., market swine judging starts followed by market steers.
Monday starts with commercial heifer judging at 8 a.m.
The market sale is slated for 7 p.m. Monday.
