Victoria West shut out an opponent for the eighth time in 11 games this year. This time the victim was Kingsville, which was defeated 6-0 Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Warriors (9-1-1) pummeled the Kingsville goal throughout the evening, taking 22 shots, 13 of which were on goal. Sophomore forward Corbin Perez said the team wanted to take as many shots as possible when the chances arose.
Diego Perez opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a humming free kick from 25 yards away. From there, Jose Bastida, Blake Westbrook and Hector Mendoza added goals. Corbin Perez scored his first two goals of the year in the second half to put the game out of reach.
"It's going to give us a lot of confidence, but I think we're a smart enough team and experienced team to know that you can't get too cocky or too hyped up about a win or multiple wins," Corbin Perez said. "I think we'll be fine."

Fellow midfielder Rachel Mansker added the other two goals, and Jahnae Mata added an assist for the Titans who improved to 6-2-1 on the season.
