1.What made you decide to serve the district? Why do you serve now?
I have my own children involved in the district as well as many friends/acquaintances with children in VISD.
I believe I can help with critical decisions and direction in education.
The same beliefs that made me decide to serve in the first place in 2010 still hold true today.
An expansion on my desire to continue to serve is to help navigate the two high schools toward an improved academic rating.
We want excellence.
2. What is your most memorable time as a board member? Why was it so memorable?
Hiring our new superintendent Robert Jaklich.
There are three items school board members manage: setting the tax rate, setting local policy and hiring/firing superintendents.
The hiring of a new superintendent was very important to me since choosing a new leader - the right leader - means a lot to the district, the kids and the community.
