A woman was injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 59 near Telferner.

Karen Jill Parks, 47, of Athens, Ala., was treated at Citizens Medical Center and released, a spokesperson said.

She was a passenger in a 1996 white Dodge Ram pick-up driven by Glenn Johnson Parks, 52, also of Athens, Ala.

The two were traveling north, pulled into a cross over, and then pulled into the southbound lanes. Their truck was rear-ended after they were traveling south on the highway about 3 p.m. by a 2003 grey GMC Sierra driven by Justin Clark Kortz, 23, of Inez, Trooper Gerald Bryant, a Department of Public Safety spokesman, said.

Bryant said all were wearing their seat belts, and Glenn Johnson Parks and Kortz were not injured.

No citations were issued, and an investigation is ongoing, Bryant said.
