Kids of all ages have the chance this weekend to experience the great outdoors.

The ninth annual Family Outdoor Expo is Saturday at the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St.

Hosted by Experience Excellence, a Crossroads ministry effort, the event is a chance to bring families together for activities they might not otherwise experience, said Glen Dry, the expo's founder and organizer.

Rock walls, pony rides, fish ponds and more join this year's schedule, he said. Admission is free, but concessions are available and proceeds help fund the event.

The expo got its start in Victoria, but has grown through the years to include events in Corpus Christi and Brownwood.

With a sunny weather forecast, Dry expects a large crowd Saturday and encourages people to arrive early.

He said he looks forward to the big day.

"It's like a giant family reunion," he said. "It's so much fun to see everybody with their families. I love it."
