The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two suspicious deaths reported at 6:26 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 884 in Weesatche.
Dennis and Ida Reitz, a married couple, were found dead with gunshot wounds, said Capt. Tom Copeland with the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office.
They were pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Steve Kennedy about 7:30 a.m.
Kennedy said the bodies were sent to Central Texas Autopsy in Lockhart for autopsies, which are scheduled to occur Friday. He expects preliminary results for the causes of death to come back within a few days.
The initial call came in from a family member, said Sgt. Adam Irwinsky of the Goliad Sheriff’s Office.
The deaths are still under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office is not looking for suspects, said Copeland.
“We have done the preliminary investigation and are waiting for a final ruling from the medical examiner, and then we will be able to say one way or the other, but right now we are not actively looking for anyone,” Copeland said.
Weesatche is about 25 miles north of Goliad.
