Victoria College will offer entrance loan counseling sessions Tuesday through Thursday at the VC Main Campus, the Gonzales Center and Calhoun County Center for those who will receive student loans during the 2013-14 school year.
The Victoria session will be 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at VC's Health Sciences Center in Room 130.
The Gonzales session will be 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at VC's Gonzales Center, 424 E. Sarah DeWitt Drive in Gonzales.
The Calhoun session will be from 4-5 p.m. Thursday at VC's Calhoun County Center, 900 N. Virginia St. in Port Lavaca.
Attending a session is mandatory for all first-time Victoria College loan recipients. Pre-registration is not required, and students do not need to bring any information with them to the sessions.
If students are completing a loan request form, they must know their total loan debt as this information is required. If the total loan debt is unknown, students can retrieve this information at StudentLoans.gov by clicking on My Financial Aid History and then Financial Aid Review, said Kim Obsta, Victoria College Financial Aid director.
"A direct student loan is an obligation to the Department of Education and has certain responsibilities and requirements," Obsta said. "It is extremely important that any person entering in this type of agreement understands fully the commitment and obligation he or she is undertaking, and the face-to-face counseling session is the place for this."
