It was 4 p.m. Friday, and I had just received a call to style a client for a red carpet appearance that weekend.
The client: Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs, who had just wrapped up the finals against the Miami Heat.
As a 5-foot woman, I was excited and nervous that I was about to style a 6-foot-6-inch basketball player.
Not only was I able to find apparel for Green, but I also found some for his younger brother, Rashad. I also styled former NFL player Eddie George, the DJ for the Houston red carpet event for former NFL player Tim Carter's foundation, Carter's Kids.
I also styled Carter for a magazine cover shoot several weeks before.
When styling my clients, I focused on what was best for the summer heat and what was good and presentable on the red carpet.
Each of my clients wore linen and lighter fabrics.
Green wore a nice linen suit by designer Billy Reid - the Lewis khaki suit - with a light blue button-up underneath. The look was clean and suitable for a day-to-night look.
Green's brother wore a darker suit - the Lexington suit in navy - which was clean and sleek. Both looks were formal wear.
For Carter's cover photo, I styled him in the Campbell Peak suit, which is by far my favorite suit this season for men. I love the formality and structure of the suit, and I love how transitional it is for styling my clients.
The suit can be worn to graduations, formal affairs and weddings.
I have even used the suit on grooms opting for something other than a traditional black suit.
What I love most about the suits, however, is that they were on sale. I always try to find amazing bargains for my clients' wardrobes, and these are some of the best quality pieces for men.
