At the Texas Funeral Directors Association's 127th annual convention in Austin recently, Charles Hauboldt III, funeral director and owner of Grace Funeral Homes in Victoria, Goliad and Port Lavaca, was elected secretary-treasurer of the organization. Hauboldt will move through the association's offices to serve as president of the 1,200-member association for the 2015-16 administrative year.
Shawn Clark recently began work as purchasing manager in the University of Houston-Victoria Department of Business Services. He assists faculty and staff with purchases, prepares requests for bids and ensures all purchasing regulations are followed.
Joey Lara, Victoria native and owner of Houston insurance company Lara Agency, has joined a group of leading experts to co-write the book "Change Agents: The World's Leading Experts Reveal Their Secrets for Successfully Changing the Status Quo to Help Their Clients Lead Better Lives and Run Better Businesses." Lara is the son of Joe and Hilaria Lara, of Victoria.
Vera Akinkuotu recently joined the University of Houston-Victoria as coordinator of student development and parent programs. In her new role, she will create leadership and volunteer programs for students. She also will be the liaison between the university and students' parents.
