It is against the law to drive without a valid driver's license.

We stop numerous people daily who are either arrested or cited for driving while license is invalid.

If your license is suspended and you have no insurance or you have previous convictions of DWI or driving while intoxicated, it is an automatic Class B misdemeanor and you shall be arrested.

So, if you are driving while your license is suspended for any reason, be warned, you are driving illegally. If your license is suspended, contact the Department of Public Safety to find out the proper procedure for correcting the situation.

For more information, see the Texas Transportation Code 521.457.

The Victoria Police Department Traffic Safety Unit invites residents to inform us of any traffic issues that you observe. The easiest way to do this is go to our website,, then go to the VPD Customer Service Request tab in the center of the page and follow the directions.

If you have a traffic law question, contact Senior Police Officer David Brogger, Victoria Po lice Department Traffic Safety Unit, 361-485-3700.
