Victoria County Genealogical Society has social
July 26, 2013 at 2:26 a.m.
The Victoria County Genealogical Society met July 8. A social was held in the place of a meeting. Tables were decorated in red, white and blue covers and flags. Hot dogs, chips, dips, cookies and ice cream were served. Music was provided by Ralph Nance and Tony Wilhelm. They played some oldies that brought back memories. A game of "guess this tune" was played. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, entertainment and fellowship that followed. A free-will donation was collected for the meal and will be given to the Food Bank. Our forefathers were recognized; if it had not been for them, we would not have had Independence Day to celebrate.
Our next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12 at The First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 2105 N. Ben Jordan St. Our guest speaker will be the former County Judge Helen Walker. Members are encouraged to come and bring a guest. Visitors are always welcome. For any questions call Kenneth Booth at 361-575-7584 or Louise Browning 361-782-2171.
