Thumbs-up to the Calhoun County YMCA's plan for expansion. We are glad to see the center is working to provide more room.

Thumbs-up to comedian and actor Jimmie "JJ" Walker's plan to hold a show in the Victoria Fine Arts Center. Our community has hosted some big names recently, and we hope that trend continues.

Thumbs-down to the outbreak of the cyclospora stomach bug. We encourage everyone to wash their hands and take steps to avoid this awful illness.

Thumbs-down to the ongoing sweltering heat. It is entirely too hot, and we haven't even reached August yet.
