Lavaca traffic stop nets 450 pounds of marijuana, 1 arrest

One man was arrested for possession of more than 450 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop Saturday in Lavaca County.

The deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at U.S. Highway 77 alternate at Mustang Creek around 11 a.m., Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon said Sunday.

Three men bailed from the vehicle and ran into the brush.

A Department of Public Safety helicopter and prison scent dogs out of Cuero and Beeville assisted with the search.

Harmon said one man was apprehended, but the other two were not located.

The name of the man arrested was not available Sunday.
