Two men were flown by helicopter to a Houston hospital after a one-vehicle wreck in Edna on Sunday night.

Anthony Stevens, 19, of Edna, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala west on County Road 306 eight-tenths of a mile west of Farm-to-Market Road 1822 at 7:52 p.m., Trooper Gerald Bryant of the Department of Public Safety said Monday.

That part of the road curves to the left and has a posted speed limit of 45 mph, he said.

Stevens and his passenger, Drakkar Miller, 16, no residence available, were traveling at an unsafe speed and ran off the road on the right side, Bryant said.

The car then struck several trees before hitting a ditch and overturning, he said.

Stevens and Miller were injured and hospitalized at Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute about 3:30 p.m. Monday, said Kathryn Klien, a hospital spokeswoman.

Drakkar’s right arm was amputated below the elbow, said his mother, Shanna Miller. He also suffered head and leg injuries.

Stevens, meanwhile, was discharged, she said.
