For Crossroads residents looking for work, about 300 new opportunities will soon be available.
Hiring is underway for Victoria's incoming Wal-Mart, 4001 Houston Highway, where several hundred jobs join the mix, according to a news release from Mitchell Communications Group.
Both full-time and part-time positions are available, store manager Laura Rivera said in the release, and through Wal-Mart's Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer work to any qualified veteran honorably discharged within the past 12 months.
"We are excited to add a new Wal-Mart to Victoria and bring good jobs with great career opportunities to the area," Rivera said in the release.
Benefits, such as health care coverage, matching 401(k) contributions, store discounts and life insurance are available for eligible full-time and part-time associates, according to the release. Eligible employees also receive quarterly incentives based on store performance.
Wal-Mart's average hourly wage for a regular full-time, hourly associate is $12.64 in Texas, according to the company's website. That pay rate is as of April 30.
A hiring kiosk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week inside the city's existing store at 9002 N. Navarro St., and potential employees can also apply online at careers.walmart.com.
Most new associates will begin work in August to help prepare for the store's grand opening. The new Wal-Mart is slated to open this fall.
