An Edna man driving a stolen car was arrested by deputies Thursday morning after evading sheriff's deputies on Farm-to-Market Road 822.
Jackson County Sheriff Andy Louderback said Darrein Parks, 20, was driving an early model white Lexus near the Edna McDonald's on state Highway 111 when he spotted Deputy Curtis Gabrysch and began speeding.
Louderback said Parks was driving the vehicle, reported stolen from Bay City, at rates of up to 80 mph in a 60-mph zone.
Parks drove about 5 miles on the highway before attempting to make a U-turn and spinning out of control into a ditch.
Louderback said three deputies assisted with Parks' arrest, and he was taken to the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Thursday night.
Parks was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
The Lexus was seized and will be held for the owner to pick it up, Louderback said.
