UHV softball finishes year ranked No. 18

UHV's late season surge helped them finish the year in the NAIA Top 25 coaches softball poll.
The team moved up six spots Wednesday to finish the 2013 season ranked No. 18 overall
The Jaguars finished the 2013 season with a 32-22 record and a berth in the NAIA National Championships Opening Round Tournament where they fell in the championship game of the Lubbock Bracket.
UHV received 216 points in the final voting to move up from No. 24.
National champion Concordia (Calif.) received all 20 first-place votes and was an unanimous No. 1 with 560 points, while Spring Hill (Ala.), the NAIA runner-up, moved up from No. 15 to No. 2 with 537 points.
Lubbock Christian, who the Jaguars lost to in the Lubbock Bracket finals, finished at No. 3 with 527 points, while Williams Baptist (Ark.) was No. 4 with 506 points and Oklahoma City rounded out the top five at No. 5 with 483 points.
