A 2002 Ford Explorer sits upright in the 9000 block of U.S. Highway 59. The driver, a 17-year-old Victoria woman, lost control of the vehicle while attempting to change lanes. The vehicle flipped several times before landing in the ditch.

A Victoria woman was injured in a one-truck wreck Tuesday afternoon.

The driver, Amber Ruiz, 17, and passenger Shawn Shanks, 39, of Victoria, were northbound in the 9000 block of U.S. Highway 59, when Ruiz lost control, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Wesley Rodriguez.

The 2002 Ford Explorer truck rolled over several times and landed upright in a ditch separating the highway lanes, said Rodriguez.

Ruiz was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro, where she was transferred to the San Antonio Military Medical Center. Her condition was not known Tuesday night, a hospital spokesman said.

Shanks refused treatment at the scene and was able to leave in another vehicle.

The wreck remains under investigation.
