Special education parent workshops help with navigating system

Two special education parent workshops will be presented by Partners Resource Network - TEAM Project on Tuesday at the Gulf Bend Center, 6502 Nursery Drive, Room 242, M.G. and Lily A. Johnson Conference Room, Victoria.
"Assertiveness" will be presented from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This workshop is designed to teach parents to communicate opinions, thoughts, needs and feelings in a direct, honest and appropriate manner in order to secure a free appropriate public education for their children.
"Overview of Procedural Safeguards" will be presented from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program ensures that children with disabilities are provided a free, appropriate public education.
This workshop will introduce the most prominent rights and responsibilities of children with disabilities and their parents along with the rights and responsibilities of public agencies.
