Area athletes receive academic honors

RICHARDSON - Six athletes from Victoria were named to the Lone Star Conference's Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Angelo State's Zach Mueller and Texas A&M-Kingsville's Brittany Stafford, Samantha Alvarez, Denver Diefenbach, Dylan Riedesel, and Nick Brown received the academic honor.

To be eligible for the honor roll, athletes must have a minimum 3.30 grade point average for the current academic year and be active on the roster.

Mueller is a sophomore football player from Memorial.

Stafford and Alvarez are senior track and field athletes from Memorial, Diefenbach is a junior baseball player from St. Joseph, and Riedesel and Brown are junior track and field athletes from Memorial.

Texas A&M-Kingsville's Michelle Wagner, a freshman basketball player from Calhoun, and Tyler Chovanec, a sophomore track and field athlete from Industrial, were also named to the honor roll, along with Incarnate Word's Myles Dumont, a sophomore golfer from Rice Consolidated.
