City Council members need to be accountable

Editor, the Advocate:
The recent Advocate investigation into the potential existence of a walking quorum by four City Council members - Alvarez, Soliz, Hagan and Truman - is very troubling. The most troubling fact is these four have been the most vocal about criticizing others on council for being "good old boys." During the May 14 council meeting, David Hagan accused outgoing Mayor Armstrong and newly elected Mayor Polasek of collusion. This accusation is absurd and reached the height of hypocrisy for Mr. Hagan. I applaud the Victoria Advocate for bringing this to light for the public. Ultimately, the citizens must hold these four elected officials accountable.
Let us hope that we are not headed to where elected City Council persons are uncooperative, nontransparent, refuse to discuss and disclose public business in public and do it over and over again.
