Pope Benedict XVI is the George W. Bush of the papacy, while his predecessor, John Paul II is the John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama of the papacy.
As His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI retires from the papacy for a job well done, I would like to share some words I think us Catholics should think about (including clergy and religious).
"For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires, will surround themselves with teachers who will tickle their ears. They will stop listening to the truth and will wander off to fables." - 2 Timothy 4:3-4
"'And you,' He said to them, 'who do you say that I am?' 'You are the Messiah,' Simon Peter answered, 'the Son of the living God.' Jesus replied, 'Blest are you Simon, son of John. No mere man has revealed this to you but My heavenly Father. I for my part declare to you, you are rock, and on this rock I will build my church and the jaws of death shall not prevail against it. I will entrust to you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you declare bound on earth shall be bound in heaven; whatever you declare loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven.'" - Matthew 16:15-19
