Crossroads ropers have a chance this weekend to cowboy up for a cause.
Lassoing Loving Care, a team roping event to benefit Hospice of South Texas, takes place Sunday at Hallettsville's William and Alton Allen Expo Center.
The day includes an open roping event, No. 10 roping with No. 8 incentive, and both a live and silent auction, said Richard Meyer, an event co-chairman.
Concessions and raffle tickets will be available, he said, and a beer garden opens at noon.
Registration is $250 per person for the open roping event, and books are open 8-10 a.m., according to an event news release. The roping begins at 10:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, registration is $100 per person for the No. 10 event, with books open from 1-2:30 p.m. That roping begins at 3 p.m.
The live auction gets its start at 1 p.m.
Meyer said he looks forward to the event, the first of its kind for the hospice organization.
"It's going to be good," he said, noting a number of big-name ropers will be in attendance. "There'll be lots of good people and lots of good camaraderie. And it's going for a good cause."
Admission is free to the public, but donations to Hospice of South Texas will be accepted. Those writing checks to the organization should include "Lassoing Loving Care" in the memo section.
