Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-down to the Victoria Livestock Show parade. It was the worst parade I have seen. There were no marching bands and floats from out of town. Back in the '80s and early '90s, there was all that and even clowns.

Thumbs-up to Texas Port Recycling for allowing the Victoria Fire Department to practice using the Jaws of Life cutters to save lives on their property for free.

Thumbs-up to the opening of Ethel Lee Tracy Park's new amphitheater, which will be open to the community to rent for special occasions as well as for city-sponsored events.

Thumbs-up to Cuero for re-entering the Main Street Program after more than 20 years.

Thumbs-up to the story of Donna and Mike Thomas, who found a calf on their property with a unique, heart-shaped marking on its forehead.


Thumbs-down to people who try to steal someone else's money or personal information.

Thumbs-down to the person who stole the parrots Mattie and Gilbert from Laurie Garretson's business Earthworks Nursery. This thief should be ashamed, and we hope they will return the birds to their home and the people who love them.
