Goodwill Industries of South Texas will celebrate the grand opening of its new Victoria store at 9 a.m. Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Victoria Chamber of Commerce.
Located near the Victoria Mall, at 214 E. Larkspur St., the store features a variety of new and gently used clothing, furniture, housewares, books and more. Additional features include a drive-thru donation station and an enhanced Goodwill customer experience, according to a company news release.
"Goodwill is very excited about expanding its presence in the Victoria community through the new store," said Marjorie Boudreaux, director of marketing for Goodwill Industries of South Texas. "Shoppers of the new store will be amazed to find bargain prices and excellent value on name-brand new and gently used items in the Goodwill Victoria Store."
Hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Goodwill accepts donations of gently used household goods, furniture, and clothing.
John Owen, president and CEO for Goodwill Industries of South Texas, said the impact store purchases have on the lives of people with disabilities or other barriers to employment are among the most profound benefits of donating and shopping at Goodwill.
"Revenue generated from sales at Goodwill stores go toward funding Goodwill's mission services, which include employment and training programs," he said. "Goodwill stores and donation stations exist to give people in need a hand up rather than a handout."
