Seven people were arrested after they forced their way into a Port Lavaca home and assaulted a juvenile with a box cutter.

Detective Colin Rangnow said the individuals, whose identities were not available Monday night, were arrested after they entered the home in the 1000 block of North Nueces Street a little after midnight Feb. 26.

They assaulted a juvenile, lacerating him on the face and head with a box cutter. They may have been angry with him for destroying their property or possibly assaulting a girlfriend or fiancee, Rangnow said.

He said there was also an adult and seven other children between the ages of 5 and 13 years old inside the home who were not injured.

The seven people arrested were charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony, which is a first-degree felony, Rangnow said.
