The seven men arrested after they were accused of assaulting a juvenile with a box cutter during a home invasion in Port Lavaca have since been released from Calhoun County Jail on bond.

Police arrested Kyaw Lay, 21; Wah Moo, 23; Day Day Way, 20; Tapru Poo, 26; Joseph Poemei, 20; Ber Sho Way, 26; Aee Khu, 18; all of Port Lavaca, a little after midnight Feb. 26 after they forced their way into a home in the 1000 block of North Nueces Street, Detective Colin Rangnow said.

Once inside, they cut the boy's face and head with a box cutter. They may have been angry with him for destroying their property or possibly assaulting a girlfriend or fiance, Rangnow said.

He said the juvenile was treated and released from Citizens Medical Center.

Rangnow said there was also an adult and seven other children between the ages of 5 and 13 years old inside the home who were not injured.

The seven men arrested were charged with burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a felony.
