Victoria County Sheriff's Office deputies seized more than $370,000 during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 59 near Hill Road on Sunday.

Jose Javier Munoz, 39, of Harlingen, was arrested and charged with money laundering greater than or equal to $200,000. He was stopped about 5:13 p.m. Sunday driving three miles over the posted 75 mph speed limit in a blue Ford Expedition.

He was traveling from Houston to San Benito, and he consented to a search of his vehicle after a deputy observed him following a Ford truck pulling a flat bed trailer too closely and some indications of criminal activity.

Deputies found seven gray taped bundles of money inside the right rear door frame. A secondary search of the vehicle yielded eight more bundles of money for a combined total of $370,826, according to an arrest report.

Munoz was taken to the Victoria County Jail.
