A Victoria man died Sunday after he fell out of his vehicle in the Victoria Community Center parking lot and hit his head on a parked car.
Sgt. Herschel Buck, traffic safety officer for Victoria Police Department, said Miguel Angel Campos, 40, was pronounced dead at Citizens Medical Center following the 5:15 p.m. accident by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Richard Castillo.
Buck said Campos was attempting to make a U-turn in a tan 2010 Dodge Avenger near the soccer field and hit a parked Chevrolet truck. After he struck the truck, Campos' driver's side door may have become ajar.
Buck said Campos may have then accidentally stepped on the gas pedal, and when he drove forward, he was thrown from the vehicle. Campos hit his head on the driver's side of a parked burgundy 1995 Chevrolet Corsica, suffering severe head trauma.
Buck said Campos was not wearing his seat belt when he fell out of the car.
No citations will be issued, Buck said. The wreck is still under investigation.
