Rescue workers will resume Monday their search for a 48-year-old Columbus man who was thrown from his fishing boat Saturday in the Guadalupe River.
The man, whose name has not been released, was boating in the river near the Calhoun and Refugio county line when the boat struck something in the water, Calhoun Sheriff George Aleman said Sunday. Two men were thrown from the boat about 4:12 p.m. Aleman said. Only one was found alive. Neither of the men was wearing life jackets.
Two nearby kayakers who witnessed the incident jumped in the river to locate the missing man but were unable to find him in the water.
River waters were at normal levels, Aleman said.
A search for the man Saturday and Sunday was unsuccessful, but Aleman said the search will resume at first light Monday morning. Calhoun County law enforcement, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Coast Guard officials responded to the search.
