A lovely decorated Italian cafe atmosphere greeted members of Catholic Daughters, Court St. Ann No. 369, on March 4 as they arrived for the combined membership drive dinner and monthly meeting. A spaghetti dinner prepared by Donna Maxey, membership chairwoman, assisted by Gladys Majewski and Theresa Loescher along with a multitude of desserts contributed by different members was enjoyed by everyone prior to the business meeting.

Regent Kathryn Ormsby opened the business meeting, and Chaplain George Henninger led the opening prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Guests were introduced and welcomed. New members Leona Sedlar, Theresa Timcik and Eunice Bodeker took their formal pledge and shared a brief synopsis of their personal lives.

After the approval of standing reports, Roberta Alvarez, secretary, read thank-you notes from Sue Cotton and The Gabriel Project. Vice regent, Libby Ramirez, read excerpts from National correspondence and encouraged members to frequent the national and state websites to keep informed of all that CDA is doing at both levels.

Leadership chairperson, Claudia Schoener, provided updates on all leadership committees. She reminded members that Susana Moya has area scholarship applications for high school graduates available and the deadline to submit them is April 30. Donna Moeller shared that first-place winners of the education contest were sent to state last month, and winners will be announced at the April meeting. Grace Brown requested dated pictures for the scrapbook.

Quality of life committees followed. Claudia Sheblak announced that Angie Easley, Rose Curtis and Jean Hahn assisted with the nursing home bingo in February. Sandra Genoway shared that the next Fun Day is scheduled for April 30. The Catholic Knowledge Bowl was March 3, and Court St. Ann's team placed sixth. Team members were Donna Wesley, Margaret Kutchka, Grace Brown and Joan Schramek.

Regent Ormsby named Georgia Blake as Catholic Daughter of the Second Quarter. Georgia's commitment to Court St. Ann insuring baked goods are available weekly for the Bingo Kitchen, ACTS involvement and parish activities make her worthy of this honor.

Members were reminded of upcoming activities, which include Spring Games Party on April 14 from 1 to 4 p.m., Relay for Life on April 27 and CDA State Convention is April 4-7 in San Antonio. The next meeting is scheduled for April 1 at 6:30 p.m. and will begin with education awards.
