Felix Martinez, stabbed in the neck during a bar fight Sunday night, was treated and released from the hospital early Monday morning.

Reached by telephone after his release, Martinez said he was fine.

Victoria Police responded to the fight call at Another Round, 1701 N. Laurent St., at 11:36 p.m., said Lt. Mike Hernandez, police department spokesman.

"Several patrons of the bar attempted to break up the fight, but it continued," said Hernandez.

After the men were pulled apart, it was discovered that Martinez, 51, was bleeding from the neck.

Maria Mejia, 54, a friend of Martinez, said she grabbed his neck with her hand to stop the bleeding.

The stabbing suspect had allegedly just broken up with his girlfriend and got into an abrupt confrontation with Martinez on the club's dance floor, said Suzie Jimenez, 58, the manager of Another Round.

Martinez was taken by a friend to DeTar Hospital Navarro, Mejia said.

Another person suffered an injury to his right arm as a result of the incident and was transported to Citizens Medical Center by Victoria EMS for treatment, said Hernandez.

No arrests have been made, and the case continues to be under investigation, said Hernandez.
