PREP ROUNDUP: Calallen hands East its first district loss

CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi Calallen handed Victoria East its first District 30-4A baseball loss by taking a 4-1 win on Friday night.

The Wildcats (5-1) moved into a first-place tie with the Titans, who fell to 12-9 overall.

Jonathan Ortega singled and scored East's only run on a RBI single by Trey Thormahlen in the first inning.

But the Titans had only three hits against Calallen starter Dylan Duraret the rest of the game.

Ryan Williams was the losing pitcher, yielding five hits and two earned runs, while striking out eight.

Ortega had two hits for East and Adrian Gonzalez went 1 for 2 with a double.

T-M edges Lady Titans

CORPUS CHRISTI - Monica Salazar and Briana Arguello each had two hits, but Victoria East dropped a 3-2 District 30-4A softball decision to Tuloso-Midway on Friday night.
