The Victoria County Sheriff's Office has released a description of an individual who attempted to kidnap a Howell Middle School student Wednesday.
Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor said the suspect is a Hispanic or white male with a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He has a medium to large build with a light mustache. He was wearing a gray hat, a black jacket and blue jeans.
O'Connor said the suspect was driving a black single cab truck with black rims and a silver front grill. The back of the truck had an assortment of tools.
A description of the suspect has been sent to area, state and federal agencies in the Crossroads, O'Connor said.
VISD spokeswoman Diane Boyett said a letter was sent to Howell Middle School parents Thursday. It urged parents to remind their children that no stranger should be giving them a ride for any reason.
"Conversations with your children of this nature may seem unnecessary when a child reaches a certain age, but we know from Wednesday's events that simple reminders could be a lifesaver," the letter said.
O'Connor said the case is under investigation.
