Texas A&M University System regents Wednesday selected Victoria businessman Cliff Thomas as vice chairman.
Thomas was appointed to the board in 2011.
Thomas, who received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, is owner and CEO of Thomas Petroleum, Speedy Stop Food Stores and C.L. Thomas Inc. He is a member of the Texas Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association and the National Association of Convenience Stores, according to the Texas A&M University website.
The regents also named two-term board member Phil Adams, of Bryan-College Station, as chairman.
Adams, an insurance businessman, was first appointed to the board by Gov. Rick Perry in 2001. He was re-appointed in 2009.
The board oversees 11 universities with more than 120,000 students in the Texas A&M system.
