The Decora Study Club met at The Woman's Club House on April 9. President Jo Cornstubble called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. and welcomed everyone. Dolly Stokes led the collect; the pledge to the American flag was led by Karen Parker; the Texas flag pledge was led by Janette Totah.

Program chairman Jalayne Tupa introduced Barbara Skipper, of Victoria, as "an autism specialist of a different kind." Barbara has a background in English, speech and drama and is a certified vocational counselor. She has been in education for 49 years, but her understanding of autism comes from a personal perspective and from studying the research of this mysterious syndrome. Her talk about "The Mystery of Autism" started with a short history of the changes in the understanding and treatment of autism and ended with the trials and joys that have been a part of her journey.

Cornstubble reminded members to check out the Crystal Show. Members displayed crystal pieces that have fond memories. She recognized members' birthdays and thanked the following: Mary Virginia Jacobs and Rosemary Tucker, hostesses; Eileen Fowler, Sue Jones and Marsha Ricottilli, social committee; and Jacquie Fritz and Mary An Wright, membership committee.
