It was business as usual at Alcoa Point Comfort Operations during the flash fire at the nearby Formosa Plastics plant Thursday afternoon.

"Operations continued as normal," said Alcoa spokeswoman Laurel Cahill.

"We monitored the situation very closely but did not have to take any action."

The plants are about two miles apart.

The fire at Formosa happened about 1:30 p.m. and injured 16.
