"Simon Peter said unto them 'I go a fishing.' They said into him, "We also go with thee."
- John 21:3
It finally rained this week. It got my ocean all wet. My eldest son, Buck Wheat, works for the Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, Ill. It flooded in Peoria, Ill., right where he was going.
Because of the water cycle, I like to think that the rainwater he was in was being lifted up and redeposited on the bay water that I was fishing in. And that is about as close as Buck and I will ever get to fishing together because he is a dedicated vegan. Buck just hates to fish.
Buck will be eating vegetarian seaweed soup, and I will catch, clean, cook and eat the redfish I caught near the grass on my back bay. If I hadn't been there when he was born, I would have never known that Buck was really my son, and I really was his mom.
Bon appetit, Buck.
Dear Lord, thank you for creating the seas that supply all of our needs, no matter how diverse they are. Thank You also for my other son, Brad, who can outfish me any day.
