St. Joseph golfer wins top honors

St. Joseph sophomore Chloe Velasco shot 2-under over two rounds and took top individual honors in the TAPPS Class 4A state golf tournament earlier this week.

She shot rounds of 70 and 72 to win by 10 strokes, beating Christian Curnutte of Midland Christian and Jamie Bibby of Corpus Christi Incarnate Word.

The Lady Flyers finished fifth in the tournament, with team rounds of 378 and 370 to finish with a score of 748.

For St. Joseph, Lacie Linam shot rounds of 87 and 89, Taylor Janak finished with rounds of 93 and 95, Kelley Woods had rounds of 126 and 116, and Emily Wells shot rounds of 116 and 134.
