Editor, the Advocate:
Taxpayers be leery of council candidates who say "I will lower your tax rate, give salary increases to deserving city employees, spend city reserves, fix your city streets and infrastructure - and do all of this without new debt."
To name only a few such projects: Tanglewood addition cost $15.7 million, North Heights addition cost $22.1 million and Mallette Drive cost $15 million.
This does not cover new residential development, streets such as thoroughfares and collectors, much less new underground water and sewer lines.
None of these projects can be accomplished without selling bonds and going into debt. We need an open-minded, independent thinking and frugal candidate who is doing his homework so he can make an educated and wise decision in the best interest of all the city taxpayers. This candidate is Tom Halepaska for Super District 6.
I support councilman Tom Halepaska; he is my candidate and a prudent taxpayer's friend.
Vote for Tom Halepaska!
