Goliad graduate wins second consecutive conference title

CANYON - Texas A&M-Kingsville's Amber Perry won her second consecutive 400-meter dash championship at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
Perry, a Goliad graduate, had a time of 55.87 seconds, tying her season best.
Van Vleck graduate C.J. Griggs finished second in the long jump for the Javelinas. His leap of 24 feet, 10.5 inches was an automatic qualifier for the national meet and tied for the fifth best in the nation.
Memorial graduate Samantha Alvarez earned top 10 finishes in the javelin (123-3) and the high jump (5-1) for the Javs.
Memorial graduate Nick Brown finished sixth in the javelin for A&M-Kingsville with a personal-best throw of 164-9.
Perry ran a leg on the 400-meter relay team that finished fourth in a season-best time of 46.91.
Perry also joined Memorial graduate Brittany Stafford on the 1,600-meter relay team that finished fifth in 3:51.55.
