At Thursday's regular monthly board meeting, Victoria school district trustees will hear the superintendent's recommendations for four instructional positions.
The need to appoint new principals at Liberty Academy, Smith Elementary School and the Mitchell Guidance Center came out of the recent restructuring within the administration.
Last month, the superintendent reassigned Sherri Hathaway, the former principal at Liberty; Trey Edwards, the former principal at Mitchell; and Carol Tippins, the former principal at Smith, to curriculum and administrative roles.
"Our principals have to be, more than anything, leaders of instruction," said Superintendent Robert Jaklich. "They have to have a heart that really cares about children and the community they serve."
The board will also hear and take action on Jaklich's recommendation for the district's fine arts director - a position that has been vacant since the former director resigned last spring.
VISD board president Tami Keeling said the district has been paying other fine arts instructors a stipend to fulfill the demands typically carried out by a fine arts director throughout the year.
"It's a position almost parallel to the sports director," Keeling said. "It's not just a building manager job, it's a curriculum and instructional role."
