Rice Consolidated hosts 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament

Edna will play a football game for the first time since last season's Class 2A, Division I bi-district playoffs.
The field will be 45 yards long and seven players will take the field, but the Cowboys will be back in competition.
Edna will join seven other teams for the Double R Division II 7-on-7 State Qualifying Tournament on Saturday in Altair.
The top two teams will earn a berth in the state tournament, which is scheduled for July 11-12 at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander.
Edna will compete in Pool B against Tidehaven, East Bernard and Brazos.
Pool A will include Industrial, Palacios, Louise and the host team, Rice Consolidated.
Edna, Palacios, Rice Consolidated and East Bernard advanced to last year's state tournament.
The tournament will get under way at 9 a.m. The semifinals are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and the final is set for 1:30 p.m. Palacios and Edna will also host Division II state qualifying tournaments.
Palacios' tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 15. Edna's tournament will be played Saturday, June 22.
